Grok's review
Visual thinking toolkit that's half brilliant, half filler.
Dan Roam makes a compelling case that anyone can solve complex problems by drawing simple pictures on a napkin, and his framework of six basic visual thinking types (who/what, how much, where, when, how, why) is genuinely useful for startup teams that get stuck in endless slides and spreadsheets. The core insight—that visual thinking bypasses verbal logjams and reveals insights faster—still holds up and has influenced countless pitch decks and strategy sessions. But the book is heavily padded with repetitive examples, forced acronyms, and case studies that feel stretched to justify the page count; the evidence is mostly anecdotal with little rigorous backing, and some of the pop-culture references now feel dated. It's worth a founder's time if you struggle with communication or want a lightweight way to get non-technical stakeholders aligned, but don't expect life-changing depth.
Best for: Founders who rely too much on words and slides.
