Grok's review
Great premise, padded execution.
Small Giants makes a compelling case for choosing to stay private, focused, and excellent rather than chasing unicorn-scale growth at all costs. The stories of companies that deliberately stayed 'small' while building deep moats and cultures are still refreshing and valuable for founders wrestling with the pressure to scale endlessly. However, the book is padded with repetitive anecdotes, overly romanticized profiles, and some ideas that feel dated in today's capital markets and tech environment. The evidence is mostly anecdotal without much rigorous analysis, which weakens its punch as a strategic guide. Still worth reading if you need permission to reject the growth-at-all-costs dogma, but don't expect a tight, modern playbook.
